Louella's surly and difficult older son.

Sam, Jr., named for the deadbeat ex-husband.
Ed
Louella's boyfriend, a middle-aged guy starting life over as an elementary school teacher. Ed has a mysterious past.
Harriet
Louella's best friend, a nice lesbian who once upon a time helped Louella come out.
Miriam
Harriet's grandmother and one of Louella's closest friends. Miriam keeps busy obedience-training her dog Flopsy.
Nona
Harriet's locksmith lover.
Sam
The deadbeat ex-husband.
Michael
The deadbeat ex-husband's sweet-as-pie boyfriend.
