We get a lot of packages in the mail because we buy a lot of stuff on-line. Eric loves opening these packages, and he knows that opening them is done by slitting the tape with a knife. The new slipcover for our couch arrived today, and the empty box has been hanging out in the kitchen. Just as I was placing a phone call, Eric came up to me and said, "I need knife to open it!" That I responded by opening a drawer and handing him a butter knife, which he is now using to pretend to slit the tape and open the box, either makes me a good mom (nurtures child's interest and encourages problem-solving) or a bad mom (baby playing with knife). You decide.
